What does 'incorporated' mean?

‘Incorporated’ simply means that your Not For Profit group has been registered with a government authority under a formal legal structure.

Incorporated organisations are recognised as a separate legal entity by government, the courts, businesses and the public. This has its advantages when opening bank accounts, applying for funding and purchasing goods and services.

An incorporated group has a set of rules (or constitution) that provide a structure to how the organisation is run; they must also abide by the Act and regulations (legislation) that applies to their chosen legal structure.
