If your volunteers are working with children in their role with your organisation, you will probably require a Working with Children Check.
- see the Who needs a check page on the Working with Children Check website.
Other checks are not legally required, but if your volunteers are working with vulnerable members of the community such as the aged, or people with disabilities, consider a police check. Taking this action may reduce the risk of legal action if something goes wrong, because you can demonstrate that you have taken precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of the people your organisation interacts with.
- see the Victoria Police website for more information about police checks.
